i always vote for stephane, but i'd honestly read either.
plus, there are the eight million prince charming costumes. maybe he is a ~mysterious foreigner from the continent? so he's new in town, and he wasn't around for Johnny's scandalous period (even if gossip tells him them all anyway) so he's a better hope for johnny since he didn't actually witness johnny doing whatever johnny did? and johnny is a little bit distressed by the thought that his only hope for a marriage is with some random swiss guy. (and no one knows his name! he's just 'that swiss guy'!)
fyi, i know NOTHING about regency, not even as filtered through fandom and romance novels so i'm just making shit up without any thought as to plausibility ('plausibility').
