worse than everyone's aunt

S'up, Livejournal. Life is being RIDICULOUSLY nice to me tonight! I have fic to read and fic to read (and beta) and generally I feel like going around shoving exclamation marks (!!!) and *_______________* in EVERYONE'S faces, that's how obnoxiously happy I feel right now.
Doctor Who, for instance. I spent something like an HOUR reblogging Karen Gillan pictures on Tumblr and I'm still not done. She's so -- !!! Karen is amazing! As is Amy! I liked that she wasn't as explicitly Everygirl as Rose (for example) was and that Moffat wasn't shoving down our throats at every available moment that "Look, she's YOU", I liked that there was something obviously Rather Weird about her. And this is where my Karen Gillan love comes in, because she's an amazingly good actress with that, just her boggle-eyed facial expressions and her "WHY DID YOU SAY FIVE MINUTES" and the tie-in-car-door slamming thing (god, Amy, you have to teach me how to do that some time). Everything about her is new and quirky, and I feel like I don't know her very well yet, which is the best thing anyone could say of a companion one episode into the series. I don't think I'll be bored with her any time soon!
I also liked that Amy had a sexuality and that it wasn't tangled up with any pining, even though out of all the New Who companions she'd have the most reason to pine, because she's known him practically all her life, hasn't she, and she's obviously a little bit screwed up by Time Lords wot were late only it's not the usual thing, because she's kind of kooky and childish, but not infantilised (re: sexuality). It's a nice balance!
I came across something on Tumblr, where Amy was talking about her uniform and this nice bit of repartee between Matt Smith (I WIFE HIM SO HARD ALREADY) and her emerged --
And I just want to say \o/\o/\o/ to the BOTH of them, because honestly! I'm so fond of Matt Smith. From the couple of interviews he's given he seems a very different person from Tennant, who obviously approaches Doctor Who from the Fanboy point of view whereas Matt Smith is more like... Edward Cullen (?? LOOK I NEVER SAID MY METAPHORS WERE GOING TO MAKE SENSE) in the sense that he approaches the Who ship from a Who Juggernaut point of view, so he's kind of self-deprecatory and also incredibly funny about it. There's less of that sense of awe about it, of course, and I'm probably mixing up Matt Smith-in-interview and Eleven-in-scripts because Eleven is kind of an undignified Doctor also.
BUT ANYWAY MY POINT WAS Amy likes being sexy, and Matt calls her out on it! They're both having so much fun about it, and I also thought The Eleventh Hour had more sexy parts in it without actually referring to sex-sex, which made things a lot more fun for me than the weird repressed romance that Ten and Rose had going on.
BASICALLY YOU DIDN'T NEED TO READ ALL OF THAT. I am very firmly on Team Eleven, hurrah.
In conclusion this comic. Or maybe the conclusion should be that I need Amy icons. Yes.
I was going to post about something else, but Doctor Who! God, I love this show a ridiculous amount. ♥

She admitted yesterday: “Yes, the skirt is quite short. Initially, they wanted me in trousers, just because of the practicality of running around.
“But I wanted the mini-skirt because I think it really suits Amy’s sassy character.”
Matt, 27, chimed in: “Oh, and let’s say it out loud – it’s SEXIER, isn’t it? Come on!”

Date: Monday, 5 April 2010 22:02 (UTC)And Eleven! ALSO AMAZING. I've had high hopes for this show ever since we found out that Steven Moffat was taking over -- I am SO GLAD not to be disappointed. This is going to be an awesome season :D

Date: Tuesday, 6 April 2010 04:13 (UTC)It is! It's going to be such an amazing season! I love Tennant to pieces, but I don't regret that he's gone. Doctor Who feels new and amazing again. (STEVEN MOFFAT: makes woman holding girls by the hand scary. How does he even do that?)
