  • My pinky just went to sleep. Goddamnit.

  • Oh hey, it's awake now! That was an interesting sensation; I wanted to capture it.

  • Also, hey, hey, guess who's going to see Florence + the Machine when they come o'er here? That's right: ME! I listened to the album properly for the first time ever two days ago, and now I am so ridiculously stuck on her, her, herrr. Her amazing voice and amazing songs and (crush mode) red hair and jawline, gosh. ♥

  • Plus The xx is opening for her. :D

  • Also coming to Singapore is Au Revoir Simone, whom I know approximately nothing about. I have heard they are awesome though! Thoughts, anyone?

  • I am riffing off [livejournal.com profile] kickingrad's resolution to catch more live shows (does theater count? Because they are putting up The Tempest sometime soon, and I should check that out), because! For the first time in my life I have the time and also money to watch more things in general, AND AND AND. Super excited!

  • We had a new person coming in today at work! Dorky and nice and over-eager, I know the feeling, aw man. Reminds me of more than one person I know. Does that happen more often when you move along more? People starting to blur into types. I AM UNDECIDED ABOUT THIS.

  • Things that made me smile: talking with [livejournal.com profile] themoononastick about when it is acceptable to use Brit spelling (obviously the answer is when you're writing AUs where a critical mass of the main characters are British), and her telling me about the AU where Z and Charlotte went to university in London. *_____________*

  • I really like the dress I wore to work today, oh man. Dark blue sleeveless and edged with black cotton lace! It is a little bit too big for me (it was my sister's), but I love the skirt. Sometimes I think hey, when did clothes gain the ability to make me happy? with somewhat mild surprise because I never did bother when I was younger, but now they do. I feel my life has been greatly enriched as a result.

  • They have put up Chinese New Year decorations at my estate! Usually I don't like them when they're too much, all that red and glitter and gaudiness and also irritating songs. (This sounds like my unnatural prejudice against Christmas I suspect.) But they've put up fairy lights! This I can get on, it looked slightly magical when I walked my way in.

  • Today and yesterday I was struck by the urge to skip while walking home from the bus stop near my home. I DID NOT DISOBEY THAT URGE.

  • That's how my life is, today. How is yours?

Li, li it's too early to be awake over here. Why do I have an 8 o'clock class, why? *whines*

Yesterday was fine though--good even. My friend who is kind of the Brendon in my head kept being weird and funny.

"I want sex," he said with a little wicked grin, his hand just above my knee in that place that is sorta ticklish, but sort of not.

I put my hand over his and gave it a little squeeze. "Honey, I'm the wrong gender. I'm missing parts," I told him.

He pouted.

&&

Jessica, one of my roommates, needed a hug and instead of getting her up, he just folded himself on to her lap, knees drawn up around his ears and arms around her shoulders. They sat like that for a few moments until he sat back on his hands, legs still around her, and said, "I want to have sex in this position."

he was in true form today.

!!! No lie, dude, I kind of want to meet this friend of yours. "I want to have sex in this position", oh my god. :D!!

Also my sympathies with the 8 o' clock class. It's like yr schedule is obstructing sloth. >:( >:( >:(

He deep throated his ice cream to keep a girl from eating it. He was in a rare mood yesterday. He's a sweetheart & we are being assistant stage managers together, so I see a lot of him.

(if you came to America you could meet him, eh? Eh? *nudge* :D)

the 8 o'clock class usually means i'm done by 11. I've gone back to sleep pretty much everyday.

(I have this want for Brendon college au where he wants a degree in dance & music. I can't decide if I want to do BBB, but if I did that would be it)

SHERLOCK HOLMES FIC, UM. [livejournal.com profile] lyo told me there's a way to set my Google docs to Brit-spelling, but I haven't done it yet.

SHERLOCK HOLMES FIC. :DDDDDDD

Well maybe it doesn't need to be Brit spelling if you're writing about the movie version? Is RDJ American? I actually have NO IDEA /o\. You could switch on Microsoft Word too, if that helps!

But mostly: HOLMESIAN FIC. :DDDDD

Date: Wednesday, 27 January 2010 14:10 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] foxxcub.livejournal.com
Yes, it is set in movieverse! And yes, RDJ's American, but...does that even matter?? IT'S STILL VICTORIAN LONDON. I should really just worry about finishing the damn thing before I start stressing over the spelling. [livejournal.com profile] themoononastick has already given me lectures on dialect, lmao.

JEALOUS OF YOUR FLORENCE-SEEING. I LOVE HER.

I am also jealous of your awesome-sounding dress. I'm not someone who's really into clothes, and I have no sense of style (my friends consistently asked "Wait, did you dress yourself?" if I managed to throw something together that didn't suck) but I love it when I find something that I know looks good, but that I also feel 100% comfortable in. That is the struggle.

Fairy lights! I desperately want fairy lights in my room...I'll have to purchase some today. I had some in Australia, but the electricity is different here, so...no more fairy lights, at the moment.

Skipping is never a bad thing.

My life today...well, it's still morning, but - there is a light dusting of snow over everything, it is only -7 degrees outside, and the sun is out. I have a packed day - applying to universities, writing a resume, doing reserach on where to go/what to do in New York (8 days!!!), looking for places to possibly submit my resume to, and buying a birthday gift for my mother. So. I am actually looking forward to today!

Oh, and Brit spelling is not something I worry about, but I know nothing about Britain generally...and I am writing 20,000(+) words set there, so...

I AM JEALOUS OF MYSELF ALSO. &florence;

Yeah, that! I wear nice clothes and make them look awkward a lot of the time, but today I liked the way I look. \o/!

That sound like a good day, dude. New York! I am JEALOUS. And also good luck with the resume submitting!

You should also tell me more about this thing you are writing which is set in Britain. *chinhands*

I am jealous of myself, going to New York! So I think we're even. And thank you - I am so terrified of actually submitting resumes, I can't even tell you.

I may be writing for the Holmes Big Bang? [livejournal.com profile] tailoredshirt sort of roped me into it, because the prompt was just too good: http://community.livejournal.com/holmes_big_bang/1627.html?thread=159579 (excuse my serious html fail, by the way)

The XX is opening for her! *_* Oh my god, you are so lucky. SO lucky.

As per British spelling -- lol, I have never, never worried about spelling. Seriously, it's hard enough getting patterns of speech right, never mind anything else :)

Aaaaaaand that sounds like a lovely dress, dude! The clothes-making-you-happy thing is so awesome when you realise it, right? There is nothing like the feeling of being the pretty girl walking down the street, or whatever :)

My life today is having two lectures cancelled next Thursday, which means a seminar being cancelled the following Wednesday, which just so happens to be my 21st birthday. My smug face for a whole extra day off, let me show you it \o/

I do not knooooow! I want to! But I figure I should actually decide what I want to write first -- I could finish my Proof AU! Or write some sexily new The Like fic! And, idk, I don't want to just sign up and default again, because I defaulted for every challenge I signed up for last year, and that was pretty sucky. Thoughts?

Date: Wednesday, 27 January 2010 15:35 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com
Ahahaha, dude, you read my mind there -- I usually like to be listening to music at the same time, so I can imagine my way into a DEEPLY DRAMATIC MOVIE SITUATION with awesome soundtrack while swishing my way down the streets, what.

Also y, I am lazy! I type in Brit spelling naturally! Technically, I don't like it when people use Britishisms in American-set fics, and vice versa, but I speak/write/whatever in a portmanteau of the two anyway so I can't really tell the difference.

YOUR LIFE IS AWESOME. Also, re: canceled lectures and seminars -- it sounds like the heavens are aligning themselves just so for a rather important occasion, I WONDER WHAT THAT IS. <333

Date: Wednesday, 27 January 2010 15:46 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] oddishly.livejournal.com
Ahaha yes, that -- I sometimes try to restrain tossing my hair for added effect, but not very often :)

Mmm, yeah, actual Britishisms are a no. I am a little scared of any/all of my fic containing the same kind of thing that made me cringe and hit backbackback when HP fic contained Americanisms. Fortunately, no one has yet called me on it :)

Re BBB -- I say, go fo for it! I mean, mainly because you don't even get the opportunity to default, if you don't sign up (eh, twisted logic, but you know!) but, well. Would it help if I argued very, very strongly for your Proof AU to come into existence? In the form of 20,000 words or more? Just, you know, to help you make the decision!! *g*

FLORENCE IS SO AMAZING LIVE OMGGGG. The encore genuinely blew my mind and I say that as someone who has been to a lot of brilliant shows. She's just, urgh. She sounds even better live than on record, it's rad. I'm so hyped for you!

Also, that resolution is the best resolution. I'm getting myself in gear to check the listings, got to get my new year's run of shows going.

YAY SKIPPING

My day was kind of all over the place. I woke up at ass o' clock in the morning and threw up everywhere for no particular reason, and then dragged myself to school for a hand-in which was very anti-climactic. Then I went and hung out with my friend who works in a very highend jewellery and handbags boutique for a couple of hours and amused myself by trying on pretty much everything uber sparkly. I had to hide under the counter whenever someone came in. It was rad.

Highpoints of the day: my pompadour was super high and super long today, a feat of structural engineering, I had a shot of irish cream in my coffee and I am currently working on an awesome new manicure idea involving three shades of glitter.

...dear god but my life is dull.

I JUST USE BRIT SPELLING. ALL THE TIME.

It doesn't hurt that I'm either writing in non English-speaking fandoms or in British fandoms. o/ THOUGH GK IS CURRENTLY KILLING ME, SEEING AS I AM TRYING TO WRITE A STARDUST!GK AU, WHICH, YOU KNOW, VICTORIAN ENGLAND, WHEREAS THE MARINES ARE SO AMERICAN. *flails at you*

I feel my life has been greatly enriched as a result.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA this has happened to me with shoes. I am a D:-face.

omg CNY~~~~~~~~~

Uhhh seeing as today has just started to me I rolled out of bed because my brain was being hyperactive and wouldn't let me sleep. Then I brushed my teeth with my eyes squinched shut, did fifty sit-ups, and made bruschetta for breakfast. NOM NOM.

MARINES IN VICTORIAN ENGLAND, BE IT UPON YOUR OWN HEAD.

The only reason I suspect I don't feel that way about shoes is none of them fit me.

And ahahaha, your day is greatly hilarious so far. FIFTY SIT-UPS AND BRUSCHETTA FOR BREAKFAST, what is this productivity.
