THEY ARE ALL GETTING SO ATTRACTIVE, it is hard when you're trying to pick a favourite! Did you see those twitter picturessssssss. Ryan and Jon are growing their hair out. I don't even know, it is like they're all reaching critical hotness ALL AT THE SAME TIME. Things will never get as good as this.

You should check it out! Maybe we will convert you. *smiles winningly* Also, so much fic.

My idea is that it wouldn't be magic per se! Just really, really weird - and everyone takes it down so normally. As I was saying to summertea, the only problem about having Ryan go blind would be that Ryan couldn't be the skeptical asshole going, "Yeah, right, you're 'blind', now stop fooling around, get back to practice," and so on.

I don't really know what happens - I don't think I'd like it to be explained, because it has to be strange and weird and a little magical! But when he does go blind, Ryan doesn't react much, doesn't really freak out - just clasps his hands to his eyes (Brendon draws eyes on Ryan's hands, "for a joke and for luck") and experiences the dark for what it is.

And, um, I don't know. Lots of strange encounters that aren't really improbable - mad women on buses late at night, perhaps. Hearing someone whistle in the dark. Ryan carries a cane and has a guide dog when he goes blind - he can hear his guide dog speaking thoughts sometimes - and these experiences get heightened, because he can't see.

yes, something like that! Everything is strange and unfolds in stranger ways - Ryan thinks of all the books he's read (Ryan can't read ;_______; - and even that doesn't compare.

Now I want a part where Ryan gets really sad, because he can't read! Learning braille is hard! And one day, he wakes up, runs his hands over books that aren't written in braille - and he can. He can read, with his hands.

I would read all the blind!someone fic in the world and all bb!Spencer/Ryan/Brendon. Wouldn't it be even better combined?

What if bb!Spencer was blind and Ryan was super protective of him and when Brendon comes along Ryan is stand-offish at first because new people are always weird around Spencer and Ryan doesn't want him to be hurt because it's hard enough for him already a lot of the time. But of course then Brendon turns out to be awesome and Ryan notices Brendon's giant crush on Spencer and he doesn't even know who exactly to be jealous of in that situation. And maybe he catches himself thinking how lucky it is that Spencer can't see the giant cow eyes Brendon keeps making at him and how hot Brendon is and Ryan hates himself a little for even thinking like that. And then somehow it all leads to tentative threesomes and lots of cuddling \o/

The thing is, when Ryan appears to be blind, he isn't really blind - he sees the most exciting images behind his eyelids. Sometimes they'll catch him, and he'll pause mid-sentence, hands in his air, so caught up in that inaccessible place that he can't see or hear or feel anything else. "Ryan? Ryan?" Brendon will ask, worriedly, even past the first couple of times when they accept that it happens to him occasionally. But there's nothing to be done. They just have to wait until those spaces are over.

"Sometimes," Brendon says accusingly, "It's almost like you don't want to join us again."

Ryan presses his lips together tightly. Maybe Brendon's right, but he doesn't know how fantastic the dreamworld (he's taken to calling it that, in his head) can be.

well, one day he just doesn't go back: he seems to be looking right at them but doesn't react at all, no matter how much they call or touch him, and all doctors have nothing to say. they settle him in spencer's bedroom and spend three miserable, terrified days feeding him water and waiting for him to wake up, and on the third they look at each other and spencer says: fuck this. he said he saw wonderful places? we're going there.

unfair, you tell me! :D but well, they handwave handwave get there, and it's such a strange, liquid place that changes from moment to moment, but oh, it's so beautiful, they sort of can understand why ryan stayed. and they ask everyone they meet - strange things with melting faces and shimmery wings and black eyes - for ryan, and some smile at them and some sneer at them and some say, ah, new one! follow the threads.

and they go and go and go, for days or years or weeks or minutes, and in the end they find ryan in the middle of the forest, watching the butterflies with such soft, raptured expression. and then he turns to them and there's such joy on his face, and he moves freely and swiftly for the first time since he lost his vision, and they really can't be angry at him.

now you should tell me why this-place is actually dangerous!
