I THINK I JUST VOMITED RAINBOWS
because omg fuck the haters, i loved that deus ex machina. douglas and annie eloping! the circling round to 'that's racist'! everyone acknowledges their jerkiness! the neat parallelism of susan's ex throwing himself across the rails to save her! DEFINITELY JUST VOMITED RAINBOWS.
on a slightly more serious note - this episode, thematically, was all about the negative flipside of a certain kind of idealism; feminist mentorship and gathering yr women allies around you, and what happens when people (both men and women) manipulate that trust, as they're bound to in politics. today everyone's idealism felt both frustrating and believable. yes fucking please.
things i want for season 2 (yep, that's a real given right there):
- more diane nash. please.
- the fictional equivalent of huma abedin (obv)
- more depth to fred collier, please (boy, he really is the political equivalent of georgia gibbons, isn't he?)
EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL.
