And in true form

I have decided that my day off (which feels like the first day off I've had in a long, long time, even though that's completely not true) will be a day of eating! On Wednesday (Tuesday?) night I bought an avocado from the supermarket and it wasn't ripe yet, and I waited for days and days. This morning it was perfectly ripe. I had an avocado and cheese sandwich for breakfast. (My mother looked briefly concerned for a while. "Avocado and cheese? Is that nice?") OH MY GOD BEST BREAKFAST EVER YOU GUYS. I really like avocados!

I'm making this tomato sauce for lunch. Right now I can smell something which smells like bacon (but which probably is not bacon) cooking in the kitchen. After I post this I'll probably get up and check.

& lastly, I have discovered the Percy Jackson series. They're kind of a fun read, you guys! Not as good as Harry Potter, but then again, it's Harry Potter we're talking about. (I have never read Lord of the Rings. You may all gasp and draw back in horror now.) Actually, they're not really very well written, but they're really fun (Greek gods! Maladjusted kids! A quest to retrieve Zeus' thunderbolt!) and [livejournal.com profile] strange_bt_true sent me the PDFs, so. Basically I just want one million AUs of this series. Ryan (when is it ever not Ryan) the maladjusted kid with a crappy home situation this close to being expelled from his latest prep school, who always gets into trouble around water, and also Spencer the satyr who's been assigned to Ryan for his protection. Think about that. No really, think about that.

Oh man, I have done nothing but eat all day and it's only noon. I have serious munchies. Tell me about all the wonderful food you are going to eat!

I..ate cake for breakfast /o\. But avocado and cheese sounds delicious. Except I have never tried avocado before. What does it taste like?

Ohh what is the Percy Jackson series?

[identity profile] goshemily.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Avocado and cheese is the BEST! Also, I would like to point out that while I have never read the Percy Jackson books (I really want to! and the author used to be a local boy!), in the third one he refers to my mountain as where the earth and the sky meet. I'm kinda smug about it. I love that mountain.

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Avocado is the BEST THING EVER, oh my god. It is rich and fat and nutty! All the things I love in a vegetable. It is particularly good in: Californian rolls (which is not authentic Japanese sushi, but I don't care, I love it so much *________*), sandwiches (with cheese! And some other lighter and crisper vegetables like cucumber) and also as a spread (om nom nom guacamole). The only thing I don't like it in is milkshakes and drinks and the sort, which is the only way my mum ingests it. So, I don't know. Your mileage may vary.

LEE I AM GOING OUT TO DINNER WITH MY FRIENDS AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE WE'RE GOING TO EAT only that we are! going to eat!

Also Chinese New Year is coming. That means more food. >:) Om nom nom pineapple tarts (hey, dude, I could totally ship some goodies over to you if you wanted! You want?).

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Aaaaaaaaaand, because I forgot about this: Percy Jackson & the Olympians is this YA fantasy series! Kind of like Harry Potter lite with a lot more Greek mythology and also set in America. They are fun! You want me to send you the pdfs?

[identity profile] ashlein.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
OMG BRB TRYING AVOCADO!! Except no way in heck will I be drinking it.

OMG I EXPECT A DETAILED REPORT! ALSO WHEN I COME TO VISIT YOU I WANT TO SPEND ALL MY TIME EATING OKAY?

Chinese New Year! YUM TUM YUM. Oh dude that would be amazing! But only if you want to.

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, it TOTALLY is! Avocados are EXPENSIVE, but still totally worth it. And that is pretty cool, about your mountain. I am slightly jealous, because it is an AWESOME mountain (from that picture of it). We have no mountains here. :(

And if you wanted the Percy Jackson pdfs, I could totally hook you up! :D?

[identity profile] ashlein.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man yes please! They sound awesome.

[identity profile] ashlein.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
lol where did that random T come from? YUM YUM YUM

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, this is the best place to spend ALL DAY EATING. Oyster omelette! Fried noodles! Peranakan cake! Paneer! Pizza! FOOD FOOD FOOD. IN FACT WE WILL SPEND SO MUCH TIME EATING THAT I AM NOT SURE THAT THERE WILL BE TIME TO DO ANYTHING ELSE.

I definitely want to! Here's hoping that the postal system doesn't go nuts and that they get delivered fresh, yeah? ♥

[identity profile] ashlein.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
OH MAN GIMME THAT FOOD. I AM SURPRISINGLY OKAY WITH THAT!

Awesome!! I should send you food from here. Do you have Cadbury there? Because I will totally hook you up ♥

[identity profile] loverave.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, the percy jackson series is my favorite thing ever. I am so regreting leaving my books at home.

You should tell me about this AU!

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
So, like. I am only at the third book! But I was thinking that Z would be Annabeth, MYSTERIOUSLY MOURNING for Tennessee, who is now a tree guarding Camp Half-Blood. And then Tennessee comes back.

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I have Cadbury! One thing we don't have, though, is Aero. I don't know if you guys have it there! But, CHOCOLATEY BUBBLES. Oh maaaaaan.

[identity profile] brilligspoons.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I've been meaning to find the Percy Jackson books ever since I saw the trailer for the movie! I'm glad you endorse them - I probably would've kept forgetting to pick them up since no one else I trust has said anything about them. But now you have! and I feel a bit freer!

Also, avocados. :( I really want to like them, but my taste buds protest every time I try. It makes picking out sushi and rolls in restaurants very difficult.

They are fun! Very silly, and a little bit derivative, but fun. I highly recommend if your to-read list is not at risk of drowning you. Do you want me to send you the pdfs?

Oh man you don't like avocados! I spurn you -- or wait, I don't actually, because this means there are more for me. They are pretty heavy-going though, I can see why you would dislike.

[identity profile] brilligspoons.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
My to-read list is always at risk of drowning me - I love it. >:D Yes, please! tillwehave@gmail.com

*sigh* And they're super healthy-good for you, too! Obviously I fail and you win.

[identity profile] softlyforgotten.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god, avacado and cheese is the BEST EVER. You know what you should try? Avacado and cheese and onion in a TOASTED SANDWICH. With Tabasco. Oh my godddd, I just ate lunch and I'm hungry just thinking about it.

I've never head of Percy Jackson, but Greek gods sound automatically awesome! Hey, wait, no, isn't there a Percy Jackson movie out? Something about lightning?

[identity profile] softlyforgotten.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
... why I consistently spelled avocado wrong there, I couldn't tell you. But it's funner to say AVA-cado, I think.

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Onion?? You scare me! I am afraid of raw onions! ... maybe I will try it. FOOD FOOD FOOD. I actually really miss cooking.

DUDE YES THAT IS THE ONE. They are such a fun series! (I could hook you up, if you wanted. Just say the word. *waggles eyebrows*)

[identity profile] softlyforgotten.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
No, but the onion gets cooked in the toasted sandwich! A little bit, anyway. Close enough. IT'S GOOD.

THE WORD, yes please! :D

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
... why I didn't even notice, I don't know either! Ava-cado, avocado. Do you say toMAYto or toMAHto?

[identity profile] softlyforgotten.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I say toMAHto! But I think I say both variations of avocado. HMMN. What about you?

[identity profile] plumerri.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure about you but I simply adore avocado juice. It's so creamy and delicious! How do you make your avocado and cheese sandwich?

[identity profile] ashlein.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
WE HAVE AERO OM NOM NOM!! I will send them to you! Do you want mint and chocolate?

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly enough, liquified avocado is one of those things I don't like! It's just too... gooey and heavy, I don't know.

I used wholewheat bread, toasted lightly! Half an avocado is more than enough for one sandwich. Cut slices off a chunk of mozzarella cheese, big enough to cover the surface of your slice of bread. Clap everything together. ENJOY. :DDD

[identity profile] plumerri.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ah but the one in Alexandra Village is good! so you don't toast your bread or anything!

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
I want everything you have to give to me, bb. >:) >:) >:)

(ARE YOU ALLERGIC TO ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR)

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I say toMAHto too! And strictly avocado. Now I will be trying out that alternate version in my head all day long. :D:

[identity profile] ashlein.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
>:) lol that was quite the loaded statement. Do you guys have Lindt?

(EH, I EAT IT ANYWAY. I'M ALLERGIC TO JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING BUT I'M MEDICATED SO IT'S ALL GOOD BB :D)

I love avocado with tomatoes and lemon juice and lots of fresh cracked pepper. But I'm also a firm believer in the fact that cheese makes everything better so I'll have to try avocado and cheese sandwiches.

Did you like the tomato sauce? I've been thinking of making it, but I'm wary of trying something with that much butter in it unless it really is that amazing.

[identity profile] yetunknown.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
I have not read any Percy Jackson but you should write this AU!

[identity profile] extemporally.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, tomatoes and avocado sounds about right, thanks for that suggestion. The sandwiches were good, except needed more cucumber, which we didn't have.

I liked it! I halved the recipe, and the amount of sauce I ended up with was barely enough to feed two, so you might want to up the tomatoes. Also, I think you could probably lessen the butter, my dad complained that it was "too cheesy". So, you know. :D
