top-heavy update!
1. Yesterday I had a fever that went up to 39.5C (that's 103F for you Americans) and was so bad I was whimper-crying and thinking 'This better not result in brain damage because I have finals next year'. I had some pretty high fevers when I was a child. My mother sponged me and brought water and fever tablets and Vitamin C and I slept and woke, slept and woke. My fever went down. I'm well now, all good. I am alive.
2. Something I've been doing a lot recently is reading everything Skip Hollandsworth has ever written for Texas Monthly. He's been writing for 20 years, mostly about serial killers in Texas. If that is something you might be interested in, totally check ittt (you have to register, but it's free!). Here are my favourites so far: Perversion of Justice (a female employee brings charges of sexual harassment and attempted rape against a powerful federal judge and wins), Suburban Madness (four interconnected couples and their fidelities end in the murder of a man), The Fugitive (a woman goes on the run and settles down, undiscovered, for thirty-three years), and of course, O Sister, Where Art Thou? (female inmates of Goree Prison form one of the most popular country and western acts before disappearing, READ THIS NOW). For some reason I'm just so into his worldview. Oh, and "If The Serial Killers Gets Us, He Gets Us" (trigger warning for rape, violence, murder, and specifically violence against sex workers - but if you can get past that, it is a truly important article).
3. If you are into One Direction or Zayn Malik at all you should definitely read this fic. ZAYN GETS SEXY WHEN HE'S HIGH
4. Fandom nostalgia bullet point: last night as I was in the THROES of my fever, I listened to Folie A Deux for the first time in ages and was like MAN that is a good album. Also because I was seventeen when I listened to it that album will never not make me feel feelings. Goddamnit, Pete Wentz, we always want to hear you sing about tragedy.
(Also Bronx Wentz is now four years old. What the hell?)
5. Still have not seen Spider-Man. Still want to see Spider-Man.
6. I would like a baby seal in my house, please
7. Ow ow ow ow ow cramps. In terms of well-being, this is not my weekend.
8.
forochel is back in Singapore. This summer just got 10948580 times better.
